Prop Firms
Prop Firm Marketing Strategy: From Attention to Trust
Our approach to prop firm ads, shaped by work with over 30 prop firms. Match your rules, offers and proof to each stage of the customer journey.
We’ve worked with over 30 prop firms. In this article, we share our approach to ads: when to lead with challenge rules, when to lead with the offer, and when to use proof to build trust. We’ll show you how to match the message to the trader you want to reach.
A discount can give an interested trader a reason to come back. Someone discovering your prop firm first needs to understand what makes the offer attractive, how its rules fit their trading style and why they can trust you.
Your challenge rules can be your strongest selling point. Learn how to use them in your ads. We’ll show you how to persuade traders to choose your challenge.
The prop firm ads we create usually lead straight to a challenge. What changes is the message. Some viewers need to understand prop trading. Others already know the model and want a reason to choose your firm. Those closer to buying need answers to their remaining doubts and a clear offer.
Top of funnel: introduce the concept
For traders who don’t know prop firms yet, your ad has three jobs: attract attention, explain the model and build trust. Use strong visuals to spark interest in the concept. Show what prop trading offers and explain how the business model works for the firm. Address the questions that could stop someone from taking the next step.
Then direct viewers to educational content or your challenge offer. The goal is to build interest in your brand and prepare viewers for a purchase. Some may buy after this ad; others will need more contact with your brand.
Middle of funnel: great rules or a great offer
In the middle of the funnel, you have two strong angles: great rules or a great offer. If your challenge has rules traders will appreciate, build the ad around them. If your hook is instant funding or five dollars upfront and the rest after passing, lead with that. Pick your product’s strongest selling point.
P.S. You’re not MrBeast. With an entry fee that low, the business still has to work: the price, remaining fees and challenge rules need to add up.
Bottom of funnel: build trust before the first purchase
People who have looked at your offer but haven’t bought yet may need concrete reasons to trust you. Show how much your firm has paid out to traders, using a verified amount and the period it covers. Use genuine customer reviews and testimonials. If questions about payouts or a particular rule keep coming up, answer them in the ad. A discount can help, but it won’t build credibility on its own. Give the ad a specific job: resolve the doubt holding back that first purchase.
Retargeting: give former customers a reason to return
A customer didn’t pass their challenge? Find out why. Make a list of the reasons and match your ads to them. If the permitted loss limit was too tight, show a challenge that genuinely gives them more room for error. Explain what changes in the rules. You can add a discount to welcome them back. A lower price gives you one argument. An offer that better addresses their earlier problem gives you another.
A simple starting point for testing your ads
If you’re building a new prop firm with a limited ad budget, we’d recommend a simple start: one campaign, one ad set and five creatives.
Introduce the concept of prop trading.
Build trust through payouts, reviews and testimonials.
Show attractive challenge rules.
Present a compelling offer for buying a challenge. This and the rules ad are two separate middle-of-funnel angles.
Give former customers a reason to return. If you don’t have any yet, use this creative to answer a common question before purchase.
These are five creative angles; putting them in one ad set doesn’t automatically assign each ad to a different audience. A returning-customer offer needs an audience that includes those customers.
Start with your strongest arguments and gradually test more ideas. If you already run an established prop firm, you probably have your own testing structure. Use these angles to develop new creatives for the stages of the funnel you want to focus on.
